Alliant Energy is recovering from the weekend storms that caused equipment damage across the tri-state.
>
The Madison-based utility is working to restore power to tens of thousands of customers in Iowa and southern Minnesota. The ice, heavy snow and strong winds damaged or destroyed at least 2,000 power poles and toppled 1,000 miles of power lines.
>
Alliant says at one time during the storms, more than 170,000 customers were without power.
>
An Alliant spokesman says some customers may be without power for three days, and for others, it could be a week or more before service is restored.
