Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager speaking in Fond du Lac Thursday night says she will try to help those with alcohol problems. She told members of the Fond du Lac YMCA Executive Board that drinking and driving is pretty much accepted in our society, and particularly in Wisconsin.

She says she can be a spokesperson for emphasizing the need to get people with alcohol abuse and addiction problems into counseling and treatment.

Lautenschlager was arrested for DWI Monday night after the state-owned car she was driving through Dodge County ran into a ditch. She was not injured, and her blood-alcohol level tested at .12. The state defines intoxication at .08. She paid a $784.00 fine and lost her driving privileges for one year.

The attorney general is required to undergo alcohol counseling to assess her drinking habits. She can apply for an occupational license to drive back and forth to work.
