Lautenschlager considers pay cut

Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager says she is considering giving up part of her pay as a self-imposed punishment for driving a state car while intoxicated.

Lautenschlager makes 127-thousand dollars a year. She has
pleaded guilty to a drunken driving charge after being arrested
Monday night, when she ran her state car into a ditch on the way
from Madison to her home in Fond du Lac.

She paid a 784-dollar fine and had her driver's license revoked
for a year.

Governor Jim Doyle says she should face some kind of financial
penalty from the state government.

Lautenschlager told a Madison paper she intends to
impose sanctions on herself in the same way other employees have been penalized for misuse of state vehicles.
