The cause of a garage fire in Buffalo County is still under investigation. The fire happened in the Town of Maxville, southwest of Durand, at S543 State Road 25.
Durand Fire Chief, Pit Plumer says the damage was mostly contained to the two-car garage; it was not attached to the home. He says the home owner watered down the side of the house, which very well may have saved it.
The Durand and Nelson Fire Departments had it under control within 10 minutes. It’s estimated the fire caused about $40,000 in damage.
It’s still under investigation, but a light socket may have shorted out which could’ve caused the fire.
