Retail beef prices rebounded in February following the scare of Mad Cow Disease in Washington State. The rise pushed up the cost of an average bag of groceries in Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Farm Bureau's monthly market basket report says the price of 40 grocery items in February rose by $1.13 from January to February.
The organization said the average price for three beef items surveyed in February was up by 28-cents over the previous month.
Also rising were pork prices and a pound of bacon jumped 16 cents last month. Chicken prices, however, continued to fall.
