Wisconsin juries are going high-tech. Although they still have to sit in the courtroom to hear the cases, at least 18 counties are asking would-be jurors to fill out their survey form online.
The questionnaires are required by Wisconsin statutes to determine eligibility for jury service. In Rock County, officials have stopped sending the forms with returnable, stamped envelopes and are asking jurors to go to a web site and submit their answers.
The surveys ask people questions like their age, occupation, and marital status. The Rock County Clerk of Courts says that could save the county nearly $4,000 a year in postage.
