City Council Reaches Split-decision

The Eau Claire City Council Tuesday night reached a split decision on a neighborhood request to ban daytime parking on two streets near the UW-Eau Claire campus. On one street the request was granted. On another it was not. The council rejected a proposal to limit parking along two blocks of Roosevelt Avenue. The current two-hour parking limits will remain in place.

The council did approve a daytime parking ban on the south side of the Bartlett court, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.

Also, council members voted to indefinitely postpone a decision on whether to close part of Graham Avenue for the YMCA's proposed addition. Several council members said there were still too many unknowns regarding the Y's expansion plans. The YMCA is asking for Graham Street to be vacated from Seaver to Emery Street.

YMCA Director Ken Van Es says they will continue with their expansion planning.
