Some college students at a local university may be able to get their degree in three years.
UW-Stout Chancellor Charles Sorensen says the university is starting a new accelerated degree program next fall.
With the program, students studying for a degree in psychology, business administration or hotel, restaurant and tourism will have the chance to register for classes first so they get the schedules they need.
The chancellor says the program has a lot of advantages like saving money on housing and just getting a degree sooner.
Sorenson says, "I think the real advantage is showing determination to set a schedule, get through it and that impresses, I think, employers out there in the market."
He also says in these economic times, his goal is to offer every way possible to get students into the workforce more quickly. He says if these programs go well, they may offer more in the coming years.
