Ski Race

One of the largest cross-country ski races in the world took place in Wisconsin Saturday.

A lack of snow was not a problem this year for the thousands of people who participated in the American Birkebeiner. Close to 5,000 athletes strapped on their skis and participated in the race.

The 51 kilometer race, which begins in Cable and ends in Hayward, has historically attracted skiers of all levels. This year marks the 31st running of the Birkebeiner.
