Eight Monroe County board members are facing challengers in a recall election.
The members facing recall are from District 5, District 12, District 20,
District 10, District 16, District 21, District 11 and District 18.
If new members are elected, the County Clerk says they could take office October 28, barring any recounts. Their terms would last through April 2010.
The polls are open until 8 p.m. tonight. WEAU 13 News at 10 will bring you the latest results and will post them to weau.com.
The recall comes on the heels of a Justice Center project vote. The county board voted in 2008 to move forward with a new justice center and to borrow the money to do it.
The city of Sparta will also vote on a non-binding referendum for the location of the justice center. The county clerk says only the city will vote on if it prefers the new justice center to be built in the current location downtown or on the "dog pound site" off Theater Road.
