New life jacket law proposed
Kids under 10-years-old will have to wear their life jacket while on board.

Just having a life jacket in your boat won't cut it anymore if a new proposal becomes law. Kids under 10-years-old will have to wear their life jacket while on board.
Right now, Wisconsin and Virginia are the only states that don't already require that. Kids would have to wear their life jacket on boats 26 feet or smaller. If kids are in the cabin or below deck they still won't have to have the life jackets on.
First offenders will get a warning. If it happens again they will face a $50 fine and a $100 fine after that.
