The Monroe County Sheriff's Department at Sparta along with the Vernon County Sheriff's Department at Viroqua say burglaries in both counties over the past several months have netted thieves more than $50,000 in stolen merchandise.
Authorities say they have three suspects in custody and that more arrests could be made. The stolen items include power tools, welders, torches, air compressors and chain saws. These, however, are items taken only in Monroe County. Items stolen in Vernon County have not yet been identified. Police say the investigation continues.
