Some banks are now taking another look at the tools they use for security. The Independence State Bank has a branch just down the road from the Bremer Bank in Elk Mound that was robbed Wednesday.
Bank President Dennis Meyer says because of the robberies in our area there are small changes he's making, that he hopes will have a big impact.
Meyer was in his Elk Mound office when the Bremer Bank was robbed, but he says he's been working on security changes for the past few weeks.
Thursday Meyer was at the main office in Independence but says the changes he's been working on will happen at all three of his banks.
He says most banks have security cameras and policies in place in-case of a robbery, but he says it's always good to stay sharp. He says even with all the measures banks have in place, there's still the chance someone could come in demanding money and he says at that point there's no room heroics.
"What were going to be doing is the no hoods, no hats, no sunglasses security practice. That has been in place were going to put that wording on the door of each one of our facilities. The main concern of our bank is our employees and any customers we would have in the bank at the time. Money can be replaced, people can't," says Meyer.
Meyer says all his employees are trained to remember details if there is a robbery, like height and what they're wearing as well as any getaway car.
He says he thinks the economy may be to blame for the robberies. There have been four other robberies in the area recently.
