Rain couldn't stop dozens of volunteers Friday help build a nearly 2400 square foot home designed for a member of the military who now sits in a wheelchair.
Nearly two years ago Spc. Jason Schulz of Eagle, Wisconsin was an active-duty soldier in Iraq when the Abrams tank he was riding in was bombed. The blast nearly severed his right hand, and took both his legs.
On Friday, volunteers including 30 cadets from Challenge Academy at Fort McCoy, helped build the home complete with counters, showers, and doorways suited for a man with Schulz’s challenges.
Schulz’s home is being completely paid for by homes for our troops, -- an organization that relies on volunteer labor and donated materials.
