The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources may resort to giving away an All-Terrain-Vehicle (ATV) to draw more hunters to areas of the state where chronic wasting disease has infected deer herds.
DNR officials were disappointed with recent kill results in areas of chronic wasting disease saying there was a 20 percent decrease in so-called "CWD hot zones" and a ten percent decrease in larger, surrounding areas.
Last fall, the state began offering bounties to hunters who killed diseased deer in certain areas. The hunter and the landower split $400.00.
The DNR says it's exploring ways to draw more hunters, including things like a grand prize or cash.
