Investigators received an anonymous tip, directing them to the farm where 26-year-old Travis Schuebel was reportedly farming.

Schuebel told the Chippewa County investigators that the dead cattle they found died from disease.

After returning with a veterinarian, investigators found more dead animals and confirmed there was no disease; the animals had died from neglect.

Captain Eugene Gutsch says the man lost interest in farming. "Basically, he took on another job and did not make arrangements for the care of the animals," says Gutsch.

The case has been forwarded to the District Attorney's office for any criminal charges.
