A 24-year-old marine who graduated from Eau Claire North High School and UW-Eau Claire is among those who have been wounded during heavy fighting this week in Iraq.
Corporal Jesse Sorkness, a military policeman, was shot in the right shoulder during fighting near al-Ramadi on Tuesday. Sorkness was airlifted to Landstuhl, Germany for treatment of his injuries. A Fort Snelling spokesman says Sorkness has already had one surgery, and more are expected to follow. Currently, Sorkness is in stable condition.
