WI Attorney General Settles Ethics Fine

Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager and her top lieutenant each paid a $250 penalty for failing to reimburse the state for personal use of their state-owned vehicles. They also wrote checks to pay back mileage for their improper use of the cars.

Lautenschlager and Deputy Attorney General Daniel Bach have also signed agreements with the state ethics board to settle a probe into their use of the vehicles.

Lautenschlager paid 672-dollars to the state for nearly 2,000 miles for commuting in a state car between Madison and her home in Fond du Lac. Her reimbursement covers only a fraction of the 20,000 miles she put on her state vehicle.

The ethics board began looking into her use of the car following her arrest for drunk driving last February.
