Wisconsin health officials plan to add more pharmacies to a state Web site that helps residents import cheaper but illegal Canadian prescription drugs.
Right now three Canadian pharmacies are linked to the state's Web site. Health and Family Services Secretary Helene Nelson says more pharmacies that submit their names to the state will be evaluated to see if they meet the criteria to go on the site.
The federal government has criticized Wisconsin for helping residents import drugs from Canada. Federal officials maintain foreign drugs are illegal and dangerous to consumers. Wisconsin's Web site features downloadable order forms for state-inspected pharmacies in Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg.
Consumers can print out the forms and mail them to the pharmacies with their prescriptions.
