Governor Testifying in Supporting Canadian Drugs

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle is scheduled to testify Wednesday before the federal Drug Importation Panel, which was formed by Congress to study the safety and feasibility of allowing foreign prescription drugs in the United States.

Wisconsin has established a website that helps residents to buy Canadian drugs, which are often far cheaper than similar prescription medicines sold in the U.S.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration sent the governor a letter criticizing the website saying it bypasses the FDA's inspection process.

The hearing is in Bethesda, Maryland. The governor will formally state his support of legalizing imported prescription drugs.
