City officials in North Mankato, Minnesota are considering the safety of having slow-moving vehicles on city streets after elderly residents asked for permission to drive golf carts around town.

One resident wants permission to drive his disabled wife to a nearby park, and an 89-year-old man would like to use his cart to run errands.

Police Chief Mike Pulis told the city council last fall that it's not safe for golf carts to run on city streets.

Current city law bans golf carts on streets, alleys, sidewalks and other public property.
