The liaison officer is back at work at the Menomonie School District.
City Council Member Jerry Traxler says the council voted unanimously to keep the liaison officer through June. The district will pay almost $60,000 for the full-time liaison officer.
The district administrator says the liaison officer's main role is to keep the schools in the loop when incidents like fights happen outside of school.
The school board isn't sure it will be able to afford the liaison program next year since it costs $100,000 a year to keep it going.
