The Chetek and Weyerhauser schools will soon merge to form one district.
Voters today made the decision and here are the final results. In Chetek, voters said yes to the consolidation with 863 yes votes and 341 no votes.
In Weyerhaeuser, voters also said yes to the merger with 536 people voting yes and 92 people voting no.
Now since both referendums pass, that means the two schools will consolidate and the plan right now is to have the Weyerhaeuser school close. The merger will take effect next July.
This past summer, both school boards voted to merge, but voters petitioned to put it to a vote of the people. Weyerhaeuser started looking to merge with another school because of declining enrollment.
