Most of the members of a northern Wisconsin-based Army National Guard Engineer Company have returned to the U.S. after a dangerous mission in Afghanistan.
The 951st Engineer Company's mission included searching for improvised explosive devices and scouting terrain for supply routes.
Last month, Sergeant Ryan Adams died of injuries from a rocket-propelled grenade attack. Seven other soldiers were injured in that attack.
About 100 soldiers from the unit, based in Tomahawk and Rhinelander, have served nearly 10 months in Afghanistan.
The rest of the unit is expected to return to the U.S. next week.
