Mission Health pilot program to prevent, reduce obesity rates in La Crosse Co. kids

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says childhood obesity has been rising over the years.
The La Crosse County Health Department has been working with the Children’s Health Education Center on a new pilot program to help kids stay active and eat healthy.
The new program is called Mission Health and is geared towards children in grades K-3.
The program uses interactive games that are projected on a “smart screen.”
Kids answer questions about eating healthy and they learn about "go" foods, which are healthy foods and "woah" foods which are foods that are not good for you.
Executive Director of the Children’s Health Education Center Bridget Clementi says the program’s goal is to promote healthy eating and increased activity.
"We package it in a program called 3-2-1-0 blast off," Clementi says. "It’s 3 consistent meals a day, 2 hours or less of screen time, 1 hour or more of physical activity, and 0 sweetened beverages.”
Clementi says they’re on a mission to prevent childhood obesity rates.
The pilot program is only active in La Crosse County right now, but Clementi hopes the program will expand across the state.
