A crash in Sparta sent a semi truck onto a football field and school track.
It happened on Tuesday just after 4:30 p.m. on Rusk Avenue at Franklin Street in Sparta. Police say the 59-year-old semi driver George Hackler lost control because of a medical condition. His rig hit a car, almost head on, crossed lanes of traffic, hit a power pole and busted through a chain link fence.
Police say Rusk Avenue was closed for 3 1/2 hours to remove the semi and repair the power lines.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital.
