One library is celebrating its grand re-opening after months of renovations.

Most days at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Library making a little noise would get you a, shush!, but Saturday was the exception.

The library in downtown Eau Claire celebrated its grand re-opening after months of renovations. One of the sections getting the biggest upgrades was for the littlest of readers.

"It's definitely bigger and it looks like it has many more books," says 9-year-old Anne McManomoy.

Parents like the new look too.

"It has a really fun and open feel, it's so colorful and inviting. It really feels like a warmer more exciting place now,” says Kristen Walukas.

Parents who brought their kids to the celebration say it's been a long time coming but their glad everything is now out of storage. Someone else is also happy the project is finally complete.

"I've been here for 32 years and I came here a year after this building opened. So it's nice to see the whole cycle and see this place remodeled," says John Stoneberg.

Library Director John Stoneberg says the plans began in 2001 and at first totaled $3.9-million but were cut down to $1.7-million in the end.

Even with the cuts the kids are just happy to be reading.

“I love to read,” says one little reader.

Parents also say they like the new comfortable seating and the expanded computer section as well.
