Burn Ban

Unseasonable warm temperatures, low humidity and windy conditions are causing the fire danger in West Central Wisconsin to reach "high" levels.

Therefore, area forestry leaders have suspended annual and regular burning permits in areas including Monroe, Jackson, Clark, Eau Claire, Chippewa, Adams, Portage, parts of Juneau, Wood, and Marathon counties.

These restrictions are part of a precautionary measure to prevent forest fires caused by debris burning, but if a burn must be done and cannot be postponed, a special burning permit may be issued by the local forest ranger.
