Deputies say a mom, two children and a newborn baby were hurt after a man ran a stop sign and then fled the scene of the crash.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department says Saturday morning 19-year-old Hector Cruz was going east on 100th avenue, west of Stanley, when he didn't stop for a stop sign at County Highway G and hit an SUV with a mom and her three children in it.
Deputies say Cruz fled on foot after the crash but was located a short time later. He was not wearing his seat belt and sustained severe injuries. The family was also hurt but the extent of their injuries is unknown.
The grandparents of the three little girls in the SUV say car seats saved their lives. CLICK HERE for their story and an update on all their conditions.
