Eau Claire was host to one of ten training seminars across the state, to certify poultry testers on Sunday.
Nearly one hundred gathered for the program, which teaches participants how to test for the most devastating poultry diseases.
Certification allows participants to test their own or others poultry so that flocks can qualify for the National Poultry Improvement or Wisconsin Tested Flock programs. Cindy Partridge with the Department of Agriculture says the goal is to keep disease out of the badger state.
"There are a number of reasons it's important, one is to provide a trace back system in case we get avian influenza," Partridge said.
Partridge says the ten seminars are the last training opportunities until 2009.
