Pet Cemetery Moving

A pet cemetery in the Town of Washington that has served as a final resting place for animals since the 1970s will be moved.

Lauren Evans, of the Eau Claire County Humane Association, says the cemetery was on their land through 1999. At that time, the Humane Association sold the land to a pet grooming and boarding business, but was able to keep the cemetery in place, provided that no new plots were put down. Now that business is expanding and they need space.

People with pets buried there will have until the end of the week to take any remains or headstones.
Evans added that the new cemetery will be under the control of the Humane Association.
