The Neillsville man accused of stabbing his wife to death three years ago has entered a plea in the case.
35 year old Daniel Peterson pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect to a charge of first degree intentional homicide. Peterson is accused of stabbing his wife, Vickie, more than 37 times on January first, 2004.
He was captured 24 hours later in Illnois for trying to rob a bank and kill an officer. He was sentenced to eight years in prison on those charges and was extradited back to Wisconsin to face the murder charge. A mental evaluation has been ordered.
