MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Deputies have arrested a deer hunter after he allegedly shot into a house.
Dane County Sheriff officials say a couple and their adult son were in their town of Burke home on Tuesday afternoon when they heard what sounded like an explosion in the kitchen. They found a hole in the wall and a shotgun slug on the floor. No one was injured.
The homeowner noticed two hunters in a field outside his home. One of them, a 46-year-old Windsor man, said he had shot at a deer and lost his footing, possibly sending a round into the home. The hunter said he was about 1,000 yards from the home when he took the shot.
The sheriff's office says deputies discovered the hunter was under the influence of alcohol.
