The Operation Migration effort that is escorting young whooping cranes to Florida has been dealt a blow with vandalism at it’s’ aircraft hangar in Juneau County.
The Director of Communications for the group says someone broke into the hangar in Necedah last week and caused about $20,000 in damage. She says some of the crew’s personal belongings were taken and there was damage to life size sculptures. She says training wings were slashed and a spare ultra-light plane was also spray painted.
The crew is currently in Illinois on the Operation Migration flight where they're leading 20 whooping cranes south with an ultra-light aircraft.
