While some people are hitting the regular grocery stores for last minute thanksgiving shopping, some people are going for a less-than traditional thanksgiving meal.

They’re going organic.

Advocates say eating organic is better for you and the environment.

They say organic produce doesn’t have the chemicals or pesticides that some conventional produce has.

While organic food is popular for some, the general manager of the Bluff Country Co-op Liz Haywood says many people don’t buy it because of its cost and they say there’s a lack of variety.

"The prices that you see on most organic foods is true to the cost of the food—the grain, the produce, the raising of the animal. This is the true cost that brings benefit back to the community,” said Haywood .

Haywood says people should at least try a few certified organic foods this thanksgiving and see if they can taste the difference.
