A breezy Monday morning turned into long, windy experience for a bear in the town of Stanley.
>
A Black Bear was up a tree without a ladder and it caused a bit of excitement in town.
>
People started lining the streets after the police arrived around 7:00 Monday morning.
>
Police and fire crews tried many ways to get it down including banging on the tree and spraying the bear with a fire hose. Finally, a biologist was able to tranquilize the bear just after noon on Tuesday. A DNR official told us that the bear was then taken into the woods for release.

On Monday afternoon, eyewitness Karen Koltis said, “When they tried to spray it with water, he just didn't know where to go...He moved even higher up and he's been sitting up there for a while."
