A former Dane County Sheriff's Deputy has died of injuries he suffered in an accident.

A former Dane County Sheriff's Deputy, who was expected to face felony charges in a crash that killed a Marshfield woman and her two children, has died of injuries he suffered in the accident.

Dane County Supervisor Dennis O'Loughlin says his longtime friend Mark Hamele had been in an induced coma since the accident May 5 and died early May 23.

Columbia County District Attorney Jane Kohlwey says she was planning to charge Hamele with eight felonies, including three counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.

Columbia County Sheriff Dennis Richards says the investigation into the crash has been officially closed.
