Senator Russ Feingold is expressing strong criticism for his own Democratic party.

Feingold says Democrats backed down too soon over the Iraq war. He says, "the desire for political comfort won out over real action."

Feingold has been working with party leaders to pressure the Bush administration and Congressional Republicans on the Iraq war.

The senator condemns the new agreement and believes democratic leaders should have allowed additional votes and amendments to the bill.
