Little Leaguers narrowly escaped injury when a pickup truck smashed through a chain link fence at a crowded Sun Prairie baseball field and slammed into the concession stand.
>
Dozens of players, coaches and parents were in the middle of Sheehan Park last evening when the truck hit at least one other vehicle in the parking lot before breaking through the fence.
>
Witnesses say the truck was traveling 40 to 60 miles an hour when it slammed into the concession stand and scattered some picnic tables as players dove for safety.
>
Sun Prairie High School freshman Christine Suchomel was working inside the concession stand. She and three others escaped safely. She says everyone was screaming and yelling 'get out'! Suchomel says people were crying and shaking.
>
Little League coach Gary Scott says initially they weren't sure what had happened, so with the possibility of gunfire or someone else, they had the children lay on the ground.
>
Parents pulled the truck partially out of the stand before police arrived, fearing someone was pinned underneath. But, that was not the case. Only the driver was seriously injured in the crash.
