On this black Friday, thousands of people were out shopping; buying new clothes, shoes and toys to fill their shelves. But, Friday was also a day where people could donate the items around their house they don't use anymore in order to help someone else.
At the annual Goodwill clothing drive at Burger King on Golf Road in Eau Claire people dropped off piles of clothing, shoes, books, toys and more.
The chilly weather reminded people that there's a need for warm clothing out there to help others get through the winter.
By one o'clock Friday afternoon people had donated enough items to fill up one semi load for Goodwill and were well on their way to filling up a second one.
Diane Juckem with Goodwill says all of the items collected will go to a Northern Wisconsin warehouse where it will be offered to people in need around the area.
People could also donate money to the VFW Unmet Needs program. The program says it collected more than $850 from the Golf Road donation spot.
It says it should reach a half a million dollars this year in money raised.
The donation drive went on for 12 ½ hours, but the donating doesn’t stop after Friday because people can don’t to Unmet Needs through the end of November.
