Deputies say a young girl is dead after the car she was riding in swerved and rolled over into a ditch.
The Polk County Sheriffs Department says the crash happened on Highway-8 in Deer Lake, which is east of Saint Croix Falls.
16-year-old Alora Breault and 10-year-old Michael Breault both of Dresser were riding in a Chevy Blazer driven by 17-year-old Eric Johnsen when he swerved to avoid a vehicle that was waiting to turn. That’s when Johnsen lost control and rolled over into the ditch.
Alora Breault was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnsen was taken to the hospital for treatment. The cause of the crash is still under investigation
