Minimum Wage Increase
The U.S. Congress approved a minimum wage increase.

With the U.S. Congress approving the first federal minimum wage hike in 10 years Thursday night, Governor Jim Doyle stressed the increase was sorely needed, even if it doesn't affect Wisconsin.

In a release Friday, Doyle pointed to how the state has raised its minimum wage over the past four years, to $6.50 an hour.

The Governor said that, over the past 10 years, inflation has depleted the value of the minimum wage.

The federal minimum wage will go up to $7.25 an hour over the next two years.
