Child Care Remains for Madison Workers
State Republicans tried to end a child care subsidy for Madison workers.

It's a perk available only to state employees that work in Downtown Madison.

Today, Republicans on the legislature's budget-writing committee tried unsuccessfully to end it.

At issue is a $268,000 annual state subsidy for child care services.

The subsidy goes to a Downtown Madison Care Center that's used by about 100 state workers.
