Name of Man Killed on I-94 Is Released

The man killed Thursday on Interstate 94 has been identified. The Wisconsin State Patrol says 21-year-old Andrew D. Vande Linde, from Eau Claire, was hit by a semi west of Eau Claire.

His family wants everyone to know he was a kind and talented person. He was a senior at Hamline University.

Investigators say his car was parked on the right-hand shoulder of I-94, but he stepped out of his car and the semi hit him. The truck driver wasn't hurt, and the incident is still under investigation.

Here is a short statement concerning Andrew from his parents.
Andrew was a special kind person who was a senior at Hamline University in St. Paul majoring in history and music. Andrew played tennis for Hamline earning a 19-6 record last year at number 5 singles. He also played trumpet for the Hamline wind-ensemble and jazz bands.
Andrew also played for Eau Claire Memorial Jazz 1 and was all-state in tennis.
Andrew enjoyed playing chess and ultimate frisbee with his friends.
