A fire on a stove Saturday night turned into about $4,000 worth of damage at an Eau Claire home.

According to the Eau Claire Fire Department, there was smoke coming out of the front door of the house when they arrived at the scene.

When they entered, firefighters say they noticed the fire had spread to the cupboard above the stove.

Crews opened a wall in the kitchen to make sure the fire did not spread.

The homeowner says she thought she turned off the stove before heading to another room. She says the smoke detector warned her of the blaze.
