Man Arrested In Chippewa County Appears In Federal Court
A man was in federal court in Madison on Monday for possessing machine guns and selling stolen military property.

Federal agents discovered nearly 80 machine guns on the Chippewa County property of a man in custody.
That's according to a prosecutor in federal court Monday in Madison.

David Carmel made his initial appearance.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephen Crocker ordered Carmel to remain in custody and set his arraignment for Friday morning.

Carmel faces charges of illegally possessing two machine guns. He also faces federal charges in New York for selling stolen military property, including laser sights.
>
Prosecutors say a grand jury in Madison will decide later this week whether to formally indict Carmel.
