I know who Jean Secraw is. A few years ago I bought a pug puppy from her--with 48 hrs the baby was fighting for her life and we were at the vet(Dr Brakken in Menomonie Wi) Secraw is a puppy mill-the only difference is yes,its a cleaner puppy mill than others--but there is no way anyone can love, care for and nurture 300 different dogs. A puppy mill is a puppy mill. Those dogs never get out of that cage for a run or a love or a time with family--just stays in the same area and breed every heat season.. I have raised pug puppies over the years--my pups were loved, touched and kissed from day one,vet checked and then put into selected homes. I also do not raise pups every heat season-and my pug girls,Zoe and Monet are with us for life. Not for breeding season. SueAnn Allard
HELP! HELP! PUPPY MILL AUCTION Wednesday March 12, 2008 at 2:30, protest with ccha, and dog lovers against cruelty to animals. Go on internet search Wi. puppy mills. Your heart will break, lets stop this now. We need lots of people, sign petitions to also help with legislation. Contact me:Bobi Langkau, P.O.Box 2183, Oshkosh, WI 54903 any help welcome.
I agree with most, animals are living breathing creatures, and they do deserve care and respect. But we have to remember differant cultures have differant ways. (the chinese raise dogs to eat, ect) We can't stop these discusting ways, we can't make these people feel something in thier hearts thats not there. So wether its chinese , amish , american or what ever. We the animal lovers will have to strike back in the best way we know how, wether its adopting one of these so called problem dogs or just staying away from the puppy mills and dog auctions. I for one do intend on going to this sale and finding myself a companion wether it's warped or not. Life has it's ups and downs, puppy mills are definetly a down. People if you can find a way to stop this usually cruel and torturous way with dogs, can you also stop it with children, all other animals and anything else that has to endure this horable treatment. We do have to remember though that some dogs are much happier just being dogs .
When is the auction taking place?
Why don't we show up at his auction and protest?
Cindy your comments make me sick! Every animal should be treated with respect and those that live with us are a part of our family. I'm a single man with 3 dogs( I consider my children) as I will never have children. Dogs in those types of environment ie auction, overcrowded cages, missing limbs, dirty and covered in fecal matter is unethical, demeaning and disrespectful of God's creatures.
Cindy from Wisconsin, no one is jumping to conclusions when these auctions have been proven to be places where dogs are exploited or traded to be exploited. I wonder if you honestly think a reputable breeder who respects a breed and its standards would really sell their dogs at an auction?? A reputable breeder would select the right person to adopt their animal not sell it off to the highest bidder like these people are doing.
Dogs as well and many other kinds of animals (rabbits, chickens, cows, horses, etc) are bred for money. People just don't realize it if it doesn't get public attention. I don't have a problem with that. I just want animals taken care of and hope they have a good life. Every animal is different. How is a person to really know if a dog chewed its own foot off because of stress, or was it an injury (which could of happened accidently playing with another dog or person) and the nerve was damaged and it chewed its foot off because there was no feeling there. People who live in the city or don't raise animals for a living don't know how dumb some animals are and cause themselves harm in a very safe enviroment. I just wish people would stop jumping to conclusions. If you don't agree then stay away. Go work your 9-5 job and leave other people alone. You don't know the whole story and are not willing to listen or never will understand because you have already made you mind about this situation. Animals are animals not human and they all don't want to live in the house and in air conditioning and heat in the winter. Most of them were bred years ago to be able to survive outdoors.
This industry could be cleaned up by having some regulations in place that protect the animals and ensure people are getting healthy pets. We monitor farm animals why not pets?
This makes me ill!! and thats the best thing i can think to say without cursing! It needs to be STOPPED NOW!
If the animals come to the auction in bad shape don't you think its a good idea to auction them? At least they will have a better home. Isn't that really the goal? By not allowing them to be auctioned, wouldn't you be promoting those people to continue to take care of animals poorly? Think about it, auctions are a great way for people to get animals that may not be able to buy one at a pet store but most will probubly take excellent care of the animals.
We have been working hard and long on this project. I hope this is the beginning of the end to heartless people after the almighty "buck" at any cost. It's hard to believe that most of the guilty people are Amish or Mennonites. This world seems to get worse and worse as far as compassion and responsibility. Perhaps a few of our legislatures will have time for this. Cheryl Johnson
I THINK PUPPY MILLS SHOULD BE OUTLAWED. IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO TO HELP PUT THESE PEOPLE OUT OF BUSINESS I WILL. JUST LET ME KNOW.
you can't judge the care of these dogs by the way they come in to the auction. for the sake of easy transporting alot of times these animals as well as other kinds of animals are transported in small cages or trailers in order to haul as many as possible and conserve space on the selling floor. not all people who raise dogs to sell puppies are bad people. i think these auctions are a good source for people who can't afford to pay the outrageous prices at the pet shops! above all, educate the public on proper care and offer assistance to horders but don't slam the little guy who is trying to eek out a living doing what they know how to do..
When I see what is done to animals in this country (among other things) am I really proud to be an American? I do wonder what is wrong with people? They sure as hell are not part of "my human race"
