Taxes in Chippewa Falls are going up after the City Council passed the 2010 budget Tuesday night.
Mayor Greg Hoffman says the council approved a city tax increase of about 6 percent. He says that means taxes will go up about $70 for a $100,000 house.
Hoffman says the city was able to save money on health care costs and 9 people decided to take early retirement. He says the budget will help redevelop the downtown entrance and put in a new treatment plant.
Hoffman says now cuts will not have to be made in the library or parks system.
