At a meeting Monday night, the UW-Eau Claire student senate voted to increase tuition at the university over the next 4 years.
The proposal passed with a vote of 17 to 15 and will increase differential tuition by $1,200, with 40% of the tuition increase going to financial aid.
Students were surveyed last week and felt the proposal was good for the university but had concerns about the tuition increase and the amount of money that would go toward financial assistance.
The plan will now be forwarded to the Board of Regents
