Two Eau Claire hockey teams could be taking to the ice together.
North Boys Hockey Coach Guy Brown brought up the idea of teaming up with Eau Claire Regis. Monday night the Eau Claire School Board heard about that idea, but did not take any action.
The athletic director at North says the co-op hockey team could help combat dwindling roster numbers.
"If we keep slipping in numbers, we feel we're going to deny opportunities for our North kids to maintain a viable and competitive and highly successful program," says North Athletic Director Darrell Kluck.
Right now, Regis boys’ hockey is teamed up with Chippewa Falls McDonell and Bloomer.
Kluck says for North and Regis to join up next year, they would need to apply to the WIAA by April 1. The school board would have to give the schools the go-ahead.
